Spain, The Roman town of Tarragona

The stairs to the old town of TarragonaThe public beach in Terragona

Tarragona is a beautiful town, which is located on a hill above the Mediterranean Sea. The coastline here is identified with the Costa Dorada tourist brand, and the sandy beaches are mainly with long gradual slope, which I liked very much. However, the most impressive fact about this place is that Tarragona is an open air museum of the ancient Roman culture. This is why the city was declared 'World Heritage City' by UNESCO in 2000.
We have stayed for a couple of days in Tarragona at a slightly shabby but comfortable hotel Astari. The location is just perfect for getting to the beach and the old centre.
