Cyprus, It's Friday!

It's Friday. Last Friday on the island. The weather is perfect and the mood is very good. The morning starts with coffee. There is also some time for early swimming. Later I have lunch in the old city. After that I go to the beach again. At the end of the day there is a party at some lively place.

My favourite place on the beach where I like to drink coffee and enjoy the sea.

Chicken souvlaki at Castello restaurant.

Agia Napa orthodox cathedral.

Another photos of the beautiful sea.

Lifeguard never sleeps.

Farewell party at the Library bar. Whiskey sour is my favourite cocktail now.

Cyprus, Limassol Castle

In the heart of the historical centre of the city the medieval Limassol Castle is situated. By the end of my trip I  have finally decided to explore this place.

The Castle is used as the Museum of the Middle Ages. The ticket price is 4.50 euro.

The cosy corners of the old town.

The main road along the seafront promenade.

Mini Mall Stores is a chain of stores where you can buy groceries.

Attractive views on the way back home.

Kebob at the Castello restaurant close to the Castle. The cost of the dish is only 11 euro.

Cyprus, Dinner in The Old Town

In the old town I met my acquaintances and joined their company at the restaurant with a view of the Castle. The halloumi salad, which I ordered, was surprisingly big for me. However, this is a common practice here in Cyprus.

Many family-run taverns on the pavement of the old town create unique atmosphere here. I wish I stayed in the old town for living to have more opportunities to stroll around the night streets.

Cyprus, An Evening Stroll

One of the main types of entertainments here in Limassol is strolling up and down the sea-front. So, I used any opportunity to join this activity.

Cyrpus, Saint Lazarus

Church of St. Lazarus is an important religious landmark in Larnaka. It has been founded in the early 10th century. St. Lazarus of Bethany was the follower and friend of Jesus, who raised him from the dead. According to the orthodox tradition, after Lazarus was restored to life, he came to Cyprus, where, later, he was elected bishop of Kition by St. Paul and Barnabas and had lived in Larnaka for 30 more years.

The church itself is situated in picturesque square in the centre of the town.

The church is located above the shrine of Saint Lazarus, the patron saint of the ancient city.

Traditional Cypriot architecture with bustling and vibrant atmosphere in the evenings.

At the end of the Foinikoudes promenade the Medieval Castle of Larnaka (also referred to as Larnaka Fort) is located.

Finikoudes beach with Blue Flag status is around half a kilometre long, has grey sand and shallow seawaters.

The sea is usually calm here, but I was lucky enough to expreience swimming in large waves.

The name 'Finikoudes' comes from small palm trees which were planted here in 1922.

Cyprus, Fruit Market

In Larnaka I was shown a fruit market with a wide variety of fruit. Undoubtedly, the taste of fruit bought here is much more delicious than from the supermarkets. Moreover, in front of the market building you can buy some type of fruit for less money. For example, we bought 10 mangoes for 5 euro only. And the quality of mangoes was surprisingly good.

The freshest pomegranates and the sweetest mangoes.

A tamed dragon.

The result of our trip to the market. Breakfast at the balcony.

The raging sea in Larnaka.

The best burgers in Larnaka from Jemms American Steak Bar.

Pay attention to the working hours of the shop. In fact, it is not a joke but the reality in Cyprus.

Tired with the sun.
