It has been drizzling nastily the whole morning. However, it would be a crime if we stayed at the hotel. So, after having breakfast we set out for the city centre.
First of all, we decided to go to the local museum of art. The entrance fee was 12 euro, but in fact it included visiting of two museums. To my mind, the ticket is overpriced, because there is not much to see there. Nevertheless, it was a good occasion to wait out the annoying rain instead of lying in bed in boring mood.
The irrefutable fact is that if you are feeling down you can be cheered up by good food. Eventually, we stopped at the bistro restaurant t'Lammetje at Huidenvettersplein 1, close to the canal and the boat tours. We tried the mussels pot for 22 euro. And it was simply delicious.
The weather, as well as the mood, improved, and we continued our walking around the city.
Spontaneously, I started recalling some scenes from the movie we watched yesterday, and some quotations pop up in my head. "Is the swans still there?", asks one of the main characters "In Bruges"; and another protagonist answers "Yeah, there's swans...". I also confirm, that swans still swim here. Surely, the swans, along with cobbled streets, churches and other beautiful fairytale stuff, are the jewels of this city. These graceful creatures, freely roaming the canals, might be really lucky to be the residents of Bruges.
Later we walked into the bars to taste some local beer. The first bar was with unique atmosphere but with expensive prices. I tasted Bourgogne des Flandres. By the way, there is the brewery in the centre of Bruges, where this type of beer is being produced. Unfortunately, I did not get on a tour to this brewery, but I swore myself to go there on my next trip.
The second place was not the least unique. It is called the BeerWall. The prices are quite moderate, and the view from the terrace is superior. Here I went for Krik, which, actually, is a fruited sour beer flavoured with cherries.
Great evening in the great city of Bruges under cloud of night. Marvelous atmosphere. Tomorrow we have another opportunity to enjoy the beauty of this medieval town.
