Malta, The Knights of Malta

The Knights' armourA grand corridor of the Grand Master's Palace

Today at school we have a new teacher, Claire. We also have a new student, a nice girl from Bulgaria. In fact, there are only five students in the class.
Claire is from a big but not rich Maltese family. She has an incredibly great sense of humor and she dreams about driving a motorbike. I would say, she has a different approach to teach English rather than Vanessa. Nevertheless, I liked them both.
For example, Clair shows us how to learn English words well and offers some interesting tasks which involves interaction. She also tries to divide the words into groups, so we could make the strong association and memorize them well.

Again I use my favorite way of getting to Valletta by Sliema ferry.
Another main tourist attraction in the city is The Grand Master's palace, which I decided to visit today. The Grand Master's Palace has always been the house of government in Malta, first by the knights, then the British and now hosts the President’s office. Nevertheless, you can still visit important parts of the palace, such as the Armoury, one of the greatest collections of arms and armour in the world.

The part of the exhibition in the palace was the Great Siege multimedia show. It is all about the most celebrated event, which took place in 1565, when the Ottoman Empire tried to invade the island of Malta and the Knights were able to defend the island.

Then there was another important church in Valletta in my list - The Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Originally, it was built around 1570. But the church was seriously damaged during the Second World War and later it was reconstructed from 1958 to 1981. Now the 42 metre high oval dome dominates the skyline of Valetta.
