Malta, The Mdina experience

A church in MdinaA street in Mdina

Today I go with bus 203 to Rabat and Mdina. These cities are located nearly at the centre of Malta. The trip from Sliema took about 60 minutes, which is really long in terms of distances on the island. At least, I had the opportunity to observe another part of the island out of a bus window.

Mdina is the old capital of Malta, but now it is a dead city. It is kind of an open air museum.

There is no the sea nearby, but Mdina was raised on the hill, so there is such a picturesque view for the biggest part of the island.

One of the features here is that the streets in Mdina are so tortuous that nobody could shoot you, because you could escape fast.

Mdina and Rabat are located just next to each other. Rabat is more lively city, but still there are not many people here, at least in the afternoon.
By the way, it is really easy to get lost in Rabat among its numerous streets.

From Mdina I decided to go to Valletta first, because I was not ready to repeat such a long way back home. This time, in Valletta I visited the upper Barakka gardens, which is actually a panoramic platform, where you can observe the Grand Harbour with grand liners.

Later, after the supper, I visited Valletta again. I really wanted to see how the city looked at night. And it looked very marvellous indeed!
